Mawlamyine
Mawlamyine is the charming capital of Mon State and situated at the mouth of the Thanlwin River. Located 45 kilometers from the sea, it is the third largest city in Myanmar. The city is the capital and largest city of Mon State and the main trading center and seaport in south eastern Myanmar. Visitors to Mawlamyine are usually enchanted at the scenic beauty and the palpable atmosphere of post-colonial decay.
Mawlamyine is about 300 kilometers from Yangon and reachable via a 10-hour drive or 18-hour train trip. It can be visited as an extension of the Kyaikhtiyo trip. You can also get pleasure from Mottama to Mawlamyine by car or ferry.
